San Jose, Calif., (August 06, 2018) - Telewave, Inc. a leading provider of premium quality domestic and international radio and wireless systems equipment, announces the first shipments of the highly anticipated 44D digital wattmeter.
The Telewave 44D digital wattmeter is similar in size and look to its predecessor the 44A (analog wattmeter), but this compact and versatile instrument has many more capabilities. The meter is connected inline and is able to test the power output of a transmitter and the health of the antenna. It can measure signals modulated with a variety of analog and digital schemes including: CW, AM, FM, P25-1&2, DMR/d-PMR, IDAS/NXDN, D-Star, Fusion, Tetra, PTC, and more.
Feature highlights include:
- Broadband frequency coverage from 88 MHz to 1 GHz
- Dynamic forward power range from 1 to 500 watts
- Measurement accuracy of ±6% (no band “elements” or lookup tables)
- Simultaneous display of forward and reverse power (selectable display in watts or dBm)
- Selectable display of average or peak power
- Real-time calculation of VSWR or Return Loss (selectable in the display)
- Real-time calculation of Crest Factor
The metal case provides ingress protection equivalent to IP54 while also shielding against the occasional short drop or bump as the meter is moved around the work site. The display screen has an adjustable brightness backlight and is easy to read in any ambient light level. The bi-directional RF sampling port provides 50 dB of isolation between the transmission line and any connected signal injection or monitoring test equipment. Internal re-chargeable batteries can last up to eight hours when fully charged. A USB connector provides power for battery charging, and in the future will be used for firmware upgrades, remote monitoring, and retrieval of saved measurement results. The internal WLAN radio will allow future wireless PC and Smart Phone connectivity. The thru line connectors are field changeable, default is N female on both ports.
The Telewave 44D meter ships with a USB power supply, a USB A-to-B cable, and a universal AC adapter kit.
Options include a leather carry case; and TNC, BNC, or UHF female Quick Connectors (QC.)
