Quality Assurance /
Quality Control Inspector

As part of the Quality Assurance Organization, the Function of Quality Control Inspector has the responsibility for implementing and maintaining quality standards, procedures and the protocol for the Quality Control functions which include; Receiving Inspection, In-Process, and
final Inspection.

Ensures the inspections, and testing is per company quality standards. You will work closely with operations to coordinate Work In Process (WIP) work orders and final inspections. The QC inspector will report directly to the Quality Assurance Supervisor or Manager.

The QC Inspector will perform receiving inspections on raw material, sub-contracted parts and assemblies, as well as in-process sub-assemblies and RMA returns.

Quality Assurance and the respective organization of Quality Engineering and Quality Control are the eyes and ears of the customer, and acts as the internal customer by being the control point to review and verify engineering designs, technical data, drawings, and verification and validation
of testing.

This position includes significant duties such as:

Inspects all incoming raw materials.

  • Rejects defective products visually and uses automated inspection/test equipment and tools
  • Read and understands inspection drawings, Bill of Materials, and customers specifications
  • Corresponds and communicates with internal departments to ensure materials are routed correctly per QC requirements and job travelers
  • Generates non-conformance reports and interfaces with computer systems/programs as necessary
  • Processes all RMA returns from customers
  • Works with QC Lead and/or Supervisor to resolve QC-related issues
  • Performs QC Inspector/Tester duties as needed
  • Able to use and understand calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.
  • Prior experience or knowledge in IPC-A-610D and WHMA-A-620
  • Able to communicate clearly with co-workers and peers as to what your concerns are
  • Able to read blueprints and detailed work instructions
  • Knowledge of safety protocols a plus
  • Machine shop knowledge and experience a plus
  • Perform internal audits to ensure compliance to policies and procedures

Duties include but not limited to: Perform inspections reading blueprints, work orders, and other documentation to determine acceptance or rejection standards. Performs visual and dimensional inspection of first articles, assemblies, final product, and tooling, utilizing micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.

Documents inspection results, maintains records, and prepares reports. Tags non-conforming material with “Reject” or “Hold” tags. Separates non-conforming hardware from production hardware. Routes inspected parts back to production. Candidate must be able to works with some distraction due to occasional exposure to noise of a manufacturing environment. Identify safety concerns and perform added objectives and activities as outlined by
QA Manager.

Skills Required:

The individual must also have skills, experience and knowledge in the following areas: Understanding of Quality Control and Inspection concepts and methodologies. Very Good knowledge of understanding and reading Drawings. Problem Solving-capabilities to interpret incomplete information; adapts problem-solving approach to variable situations

Communication:

Excellent written and oral communication skills. Displays consistently good interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work with others in achieving project goals. Must have the ability to make decisions based on facts, not assumptions.

Education/Experience/Training: Requires a high school diploma and/or a minimum of two years of consistent mechanical QC inspection experience. Also requires knowledge to read blueprints, and use all types of measuring instruments. Additional Requirements: Flexible to work varied shifts, overtime. Candidate must be able to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, and squat. Be able to occasionally push, and reach items on shelves. Able to lift items up to 25 pounds. Must have good repetitive manual dexterity with both hands. Must have sufficient vision to see relative positions of small parts and able to discern symmetry and proper alignment.

Working Conditions:

Very good working conditions. Works in a standing or sitting position for prolonged periods of time. Proper PPE required in designated areas. Manufacturing environment
