Course Description:

The General Communications Technician (GCT) certification program is meticulously designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the fundamental concepts in radio communications. It adheres closely to the basics of communication systems. This course is guided by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) standards, addressing the complete range of disciplines outlined in the COMT program. The GCT1 level specifically focuses on offering a detailed study program in RF (radio frequency) and basic electronics. It also includes certification testing covering many essential skills and knowledge areas crucial for technicians and engineers in public safety communications or the business/commercial radio sector.

This course meets and surpasses the competency standards the Electronics Technicians Association International (ETA-I) set for GCT 1 & GCT 2 certification testing. It comprehensively covers the core competencies defined in the APCO/ANSI 3.107.1.2015 communications technician standard, ensuring a robust and thorough preparation for professionals aiming to excel in radio communications.
