YVERDON Deployment Project
ETIC, a customer of Telewave.io, had previously implemented a robust radio communication system for Lausanne City in Switzerland. Utilizing the DMR tier 3 protocol, this system offered comprehensive coverage throughout the city, mainly serving the emergency department. In critical situations like fires, the system plays a pivotal role in activating the first responders. Notably, all the combiners and multi-couplers employed in this vital infrastructure were supplied by Telewave.io.
As time progressed, a challenge emerged. The frequency plan across the six operational sites required an update. Initially, all six areas functioned with identical frequencies, leading to interference and a notable performance decline. This was a challenging task as meticulous retuning of all six sites was necessary, and this had to be done on-site without the luxury of spacing and additional infrastructure. Complicating matters further, a portion of each system needed to remain operational throughout the process, adding an extra layer of complexity to the endeavor.
Undeterred, the team tackled the challenge head-on and completed returning all six sites within four days. Every cavity, isolator, and preselector was meticulously adjusted to accommodate the new frequencies while maintaining optimal insertion and return loss for each channel. Remarkably, not a single issue was encountered throughout this intricate process that could disrupt the end user’s experience.
This project showcased the team’s technical prowess and highlighted the seamless collaboration between ETIC, Telewave.io, and the emergency services in Lausanne City. It stood as a testament to the commitment to excellence and efficiency in the face of complex challenges.
